ACHEMA 2015 Programme

53 GUEST EVENTS Panel Discussion – GDCH Investing in Brazil – Opportunity or Illusion? Gesellschaft Deutscher Chemiker Wednesday, 17 June 2015 10:30 – 12:00 h Hall 4.0, Room Europa Even in professional circles Brazil is often associated solely with renewable resources – the keyword being bioethanol. At the same time reports on Brazil’s enormous oil reserves in the Atlantic state that, due to the oil price slump, it is no longer profi table to tap them. The fact that Brazil’s chemical industry is the sixth largest in the world is often simply overlooked. Over the past 20 years Brazil’s imports of chemical products have increased tenfold. Does this country still offer attractive investment opportunities or is the Brazilian dream a bubble about to burst? These issues will be discussed by representatives of leading Brazilian business institutions and companies in the framework of ACHEMA 2015: Milton Costa Filho, IBP, Rio de Janeiro Felipe Pereira, BNDES, Rio de Janeiro Paulo Coutinho, BRASKEM, São Paulo Rodrigo Gedeon, APEXBRASIL, Brasilia Moderator: Fernando Figueiredo, ABIQUIM, São Paulo The panel discussion will be held in English. Tuesday, 16 June 2015 16:00 h Hall 4.0, Room Europa “GDCh TopThemes” is an exciting event format of the Gesellschaft Deutscher Chemiker (German Chemical Society). The GDCh is pleased to invite you to the second event of this format at the ACHEMA 2015. This second Top Theme is: Displays, Screens, Flat Screens – LCs, LEDs and OLEDs: Millions of Lights… which at the same time is the title of a very popular song in Germany: “Millionen Lichter” by Christina Stürmer. And there are many more modern songs about light, mostly connected with love. For chemists love, among other things, means creating new materials. They have done so much to fi nd materials and solutions to lighten the darkness. What a benefi t for mankind! With increased awareness of environmental safety, sustainable development and savings, chemists have also developed fascinating new possibilities for generating light in displays. As part of the GDCh TopThemes experts from the industry will introduce the past, present and future of screens and displays, and thereby ‘illuminate’ the chemical and technical backgrounds. The event will also feature an entertaining lightshow and accompanying audio presentation. Details of the programme can be found on the homepage of the GDCh at www.gdch.de. Attendance at the event is free of charge. Anybody interested in the topic and of course members and friends of the GDCh are cordially invited to the event and to the following reception, which will be held in Hall 4.0, Room Europa of the Frankfurt exhibition grounds.
