Strategies to a circular economy in plastics: the role of European diversity

In 2018 the European Union adopted a European Strategy for plastics in a move to reduce plastic waste. Thus, promote carbon neutrality and circular economy to attain the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals. The chemical industry has been forced to rethink and review its strategies in the polymer / plastic business. The plastic strategy aims to transform how polymers / plastics are designed, produced, applied, and recycled. We need a collective effort and collaboration between the industry and the scientific community by fostering discussions and building networks that will solve the challenges of plastic waste. The Association for Chemistry and Economics (VCW) is a forum where these discussions can be instigated, the state of the art and success stories from industry and scientific community appreciated. In 2022, VCW is organizing a circular economy event in collaboration with the international ACHEMA Congress in Frankfurt.
