Circular economy of carbon materials

In order to secure the supply of carbon materials for industrial processes and at the same time achieve future climate protection goals, the circular economy needs to be developed further.  This includes, for example, efficient separation and recycling processes, but also new, cross-value chain approaches and business models to extend the useful life of products and close carbon material cycles.

In addition, the chemical industry aims to broaden its raw material base towards more sustainable feedstocks and different players in the value chains undertake a wide range of efforts towards the implementation of a circular economy of carbon materials.

  • Resource efficiency
  • Primary and secondary sources of raw materials
  • Urban mining
  • Recycling / Recovery of resources
  • Chemical and mechanical recycling
  • Remanufacturing / Refurbishing
  • New business models for a circular economy
  • Sustainability
