Excessive land use and irresponsible use of natural resources are among the drivers of global warming. In agriculture, too, plant residues are often not recycled sensibly, but disposed of as cheaply as possible.
This is where eco:fibr offers sensible and sustainable alternatives: The company has developed an environmentally friendly process to extract pulp from the residues of the pineapple plant, offering the paper and cardboard industry a sustainable alternative to conventional wood pulp.
The pressure to innovate in the paper industry and the demand for alternative pulp is very high. The reasons for this are rising prices for virgin fiber from wood, the declining quality of waste paper and increasing demand for sustainable products. In addition, politicians are demanding more social and ecological responsibility from companies.
The use of pineapple plant residue and the resource-saving extraction process developed by eco:fibr are unique on the pulp market. The process can be transferred to other plant residues and implemented on a decentralized basis in the growing regions.
Other side streams can also be separated and reused as materials. In this way, eco:fibr aims to make a contribution to a sustainable world and extend value chains.
