AchemAsia excels at new location in Shanghai

The courage to change has paid off. Changing location and concentrating on five key topics has boosted the International Expo and Innovation Forum for Sustainable Chemical Production.

From 21 to 23 May 2019 visitors could once again experience process technology hands-on. 330 exhibitors from 16 countries and regions presented equipment, apparatus, technologies, and concepts for sustainable production in the chemical and related industries. The products took center stage at the stands: Visitors were not only able to obtain comprehensive information, but also to inspect the pumps, filter presses, valves, stirrers and many other components from all sides and experience them in operation – in line with the basic idea of AchemAsia, not only to talk about equipment and processes but also to make them tangible in line with the basic idea of AchemAsia.

Changes meet with approval

Both exhibitors and visitors were very satisfied with the decision to hold AchemAsia in Shanghai for the first time in 30 years and thus move closer to some of the country’s industrial centers. “The courage to change has paid off”, said Dr Thomas Scheuring, CEO of DECHEMA Ausstellungs-GmbH, referring not only to the change of location, but also further innovations in the concept of the event. For one, AchemAsia 2019 focussed strongly on five key topics, which are also very important in the current Chinese five-year plan.

Around 10,500 participants took the opportunity to get an idea of the state of the art in the fields of process technology, digitisation, water management, pharmaceutical technology, and plant and process safety and to discuss tomorrow’s trends at the conference. The integration of lectures and exhibition in one hall ensured short distances.

Rooted in China, linked to the world

AchemAsia has developed along with the Chinese process industry for 30 years. “It is safe to say that AchemAsia has witnessed China’s three decades of reform and opening up and China’s extraordinary performance”, said Chen Lei, Deputy Head of Department at the China Association of Science and Technology. Zhao Jungui, Vice President of the China Petroleum and Chemical Industry Federation, expressed his hope that AchemAsia could act as a driving force for the formation of a community of academia, science, technology and industry with a shared future.
